Ferranti: Dog Kennels and Animal Enclosures

Ferranti is a leading company in the design and production of kennels and enclosures for pets, with over 40 years of experience in the sector.

Our Story

A story of creativity, ingenuity, passion, innovation, and evolution, which began as a hobby with clay pigeon nests sold locally, and grew into the digital economy. It is the story of a company that has developed by always placing the customer and the needs of our furry friends first.

The Origins

The company was founded in the 1980s by Enzo Bonacci, born in 1947, who combined creativity, ingenuity, and a passion for mechanics. Taking up a challenge from a friend, a pigeon breeder, to design a mold for handmade clay nests, Enzo invented a machine, a unique prototype, that automatically produced pigeon nests at a significantly lower cost than the market price. His unstoppable creativity led him to incorporate his love for Lancia cars into the machine, operating it with a discarded steering wheel from his dream car.

Soon after, the first nest sales began in the local agricultural equipment shop owned by his wife, Claudia Ferranti.

Innovation and Expansion

The founder’s desire to innovate led him to design small iron cages, based on his own drawings and tailored to the needs of breeder friends, to house the nests.

He then started attending the first industry fairs, with the aim of improving and innovating existing products. His entrepreneurial drive took off, and he began building cages for chickens, quails, rabbits, and other small farm animals raised locally.

By the late 1980s, the business expanded into the pet market, and the first boxes, enclosures, and kennels for dogs and cats were created, featuring exclusive designs and excellent quality. In a short time, the company became a point of reference not only for pet owners but also for professionals in the canine and feline sectors, as well as animal protection organizations and public safety entities.

Generational Change

In 2000, Michele Bonacci, the founder's son, brought the company into the digital economy, offering customers the opportunity to access a wealth of product information and images through the e-commerce site and various digital tools, allowing them to shop comfortably from home and receive deliveries. Building on the company’s success in Italy, Michele began expanding internationally, opening doors to customers across Europe.

In 2019, a cultural revolution began, with investments in Research and Development and a stronger focus on customer care. The company transformed into an LLC, launched a new logo, and introduced new products to offer customers better solutions for animal welfare.

The wood used is marine-grade plywood suitable for outdoor use, treated with non-toxic, washable coatings commonly used in the nautical sector.

The manufacturing processes reflect the best artisanal practices, utilizing technologically advanced machinery for metalworking, welding, and profiling. This includes bending and shaping machines, cutting machines for bars and profiles, assembly machines, welding units, and punching machines, allowing the company to respond to the specific needs of each customer.

The galvanizing process, which protects steel over time from weather, rust, and aggressive cleaning products, is carried out exclusively in Italy by leading experts in the field.
